Ninh Thuan lies at the southern end of Central Vietnam. A large number of the Cham ethnic group resides in this area, along with the Ra Glai and Hoa. Ninh Thuan is the driest and hottest region of the country. The climate is a combination of the tropical monsoon and dry and windy weather. The annual average temperature is 27°C. Many historical and cultural vestiges of the ancient Cham ethnic group are found in this area. Economic potentialities: marine products. Land basks in the glow of three seasons.
They almost boast about it in Ninh Thuan Province: they don’t have a winter. And statistics prove them right. Head for the central Vietnamese province and you’ll find the evidence not far away. Proof positive, locals will tell you, and proudly, of why the area can notch up the lowest annual rainfall of the country – a mere 700mm.That, they say, is something to boast about. And to that they’ll add a few more bald – and perhaps dry, statistics: it enjoys only 50 rainy days a year and has an average temperature of 27 Celsius. "No winter at all, "as one local put it. But they don’t just bask in that: Ninh Thuan is acknowledged for its goat and cow breeding, and handicrafts – all destined for an export market. Add to that the grapes, the cashews, and the blue dragon fruit and you’re in the locals’ heaven. But they got there first – and are dining out on it. But you’re welcome to visit. And they’ll be glad to welcome you. To their Garden of Eden.
