A cultural and sport festival for Khmer people will be held in Tra Vinh Province from April 6th to 10th.The main festival events will be held at the Tra Vinh Culture and Information Centre, Thai Binh Theatre and Binh Long River.
The opening ceremony will be held at 19:30, April 6th, at the Cultural and Sports Centre of Tra Vinh Province, with live coverage on Vietnam Television (VTV).
Troupes from 11 provinces and cities will perform their best items, both traditional and modern performance pieces. In addition, over 100 athletes will take part in the festival, pitting their skills in boat races, tug of war, kite flying, and Co oc (a Khmer chess variant).
Festival goers will be able to sample specialities from 11 provinces and cities, as well as discovering more about the cultural identity of different ethnic groups in Vietnam through 42 stalls.
