An incense offering ceremony in honour of the Kings Hung took place at the Hung Temple in northern Phu Tho Province on April 7. This is the most important part of the Hung Temple Festival.
The ceremony was attended by local officials, representatives from ministries and agencies, local residents and a great number of visitors from all over the country.
It is estimated that more than 20,000 visitors have visited the temple in order to enjoy the impressive performances of folk and sports games, art programmes and exhibitions. Also trade fairs are available and short tours of the historical sites of the Hung Temple, the city of Viet Tri and its neighbouring districts of Phu Ninh and Lam Thao.
A book exhibition entitled "From the Hung Temple, Looking towards the Whole Country and the Whole Country Looking towards to the Hung Temple "and the exposition of 100 archeological objects found in the Hung Temple’s land was among the activities luring the great number of visitors.
On April 6, Phu Tho Province and the Hung Temple Historical Site received a reproduction of the Dong Son bronze drum as a gift from central Thanh Hoa Province. The gift is a copy of the Quang Xuong bronze drum preserved at the Vietnam Museum of History.
The bronze drum reproduction, which is 36.5 cm in diameter and 28.5 cm in height and weights 12.5 kg, was made by the Centre for Restoration of Dong Son Bronze Casting Occupation of the Thanh Hoa Antique Association under a license granted by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
