VietNamNet – The Nha Trang Sea Festival 2005 began in Nha Trang City, central Khanh Hoa Province March 30 to mark the province’s liberation day.
The key stage of the opening ceremony was a giant opening sphere near the water, two sides sails covered by blue light.
For two hours both Vietnamese and foreign audiences enjoyed song and dance about the sea, traditional dances, as well as a festival of flower garlands and coloured lanterns over the water.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Le Tien Tho presented Nha Trang the certificate of national charms at the opening ceremony.
A ‘house of bays’ opened in the city as well, the home of Nha Trang Bay, one of the world's most beautiful bays. President of the Most Beautiful Bays Club, Guy Rouset, and Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Le Tien Tho joined foreign tourists at the inauguration ceremony.
The house, situated in the Hon Chong tourist site, recognised by the Government as a national historic relic, will showcase information and activities related to the world's most beautiful bays club, especially Nha Trang Bay.
Also on this occasion, the coastal province opened two exhibitions on sea resources and maritime environmental protection, which will run until April 10.
The festival also features an exhibit on seascapes and sea resources with 250 works by 50 provincial photographers and Betnacl from France.
