No SARS has been found in Vietnam to date, according to Tran Chi Liem, Deputy Minister of Health, and human and poultry H5N1 cases have decreased.
The report was released April 13 at the regular meeting of the steering committee for fighting respiratory system diseases caused by the virus. Tra Vinh Province is the only location in Vietnam that has not declared an end to the influenza epidemic.
Mr Liem said that the Ministry of Health has drawn up a VND80bil action plan to fight type A influenza, H5N1, if the epidemic continues.
Experts stress that cooperation between the public health sector and veterinary science play a decisive role in fighting the epidemic and minimising the risk of human-to-human transmission. In addition, health propaganda is considered an important solution.
