Song Be Golf Resort develops more golf holes, facilities, Binh Duong

Song Be Golf Resort in Binh Duong Province is building new nine golf holes and facilities in an effort to develop a quality 27-hole golf course, luxurious accommodation and commercial property, the resort's director said. Margaret van Ronk told the Daily on Wednesday that construction of the new nine golf holes was going alongside with re-modeling some holes on the current 18-hole golf course in the 104-ha or to improve the playability and challenge. Van Ronk said the nine holes occupied the majority of the total area covering the resort and was expected to be playable by early next year. "So instead of committing all the balance land to industrial and commercial use, we believe in promoting more recreational facilities in the province and also creating a green environment for the people to enjoy while meeting the increasing demand for the game of golf, "van Ronk said. She said the new facilities included a modern gym, driving range, semi-indoor swimming pool, children's playground, art gallery, tennis courts, ballroom and restaurants. The resort is looking to provide luxurious accommodation near the various industrial parks as an added attraction for foreign investors to stay within the southern province. But van Ronk said, "The management has not decided how many villas are going up and we will consider this after the market survey has been completed." Song Be Golf Resort has budgeted to spend about US$5mil on the new developments, raising the total investment capital to US$28mil to date. Van Ronk stressed that she did not see more golf courses going up in Binh Duong and elsewhere in Vietnam as a competition. "We feel having more courses will benefit the country and help to create awareness internationally. We see a dramatic rise in interest in golf amongst Vietnamese and this augurs well for the future of golf in this country." Song Be Golf Resort now has a driving range with "Chip n Putt course", a swimming pool, tennis courts, library, gym, restaurants, Executive and Banquet rooms. Every year, the resort, a 30-minute drive from HCMC, organizes major golf tournaments and events for its about 850 members and guests.
