Prices for tours and hotels are expected to rise over the Reunification Day weekend (April 28-May 1), just as they do for the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) each year.
Charges for tours to Da Lat, one of the most popular domestic destinations for summer holidays, will increase by 40-50% compared to other months.
Vietravel charges VND1.5mil per person for a four-day tour of Da Lat and Madagui in Lam Dong Province.
Prices for tours of Nha Trang and Phan Thiet will also go up, by an estimated 30%.
Higher bus rental costs make for the greatest increases in tour prices, said Pham Cong Liem, deputy director of the Youth Travel Company’s Services Division. He added that rentals for a 45-seat bus could increase by 50% over that weekend.
Higher room rates also push up tour prices. Hotel rooms in Da Lat and Nha Trang may rise by 30%.
High domestic prices have driven some travellers abroad for the Reunification Day. Peace Tours and Fiditourist said overseas bookings are expected to double on last year.
