The only greyhound race track in Vietnam, located in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, is scheduled to re-open April 23 after racing activities were suspended eight months ago.
More than 200 new greyhounds will run races on the opening day of the Vung Tau Racetrack, said track operator Sports and Entertainment Services (SES) Company.
Since August 4, 2004, SES had to suspend races at the track following the deaths of dozens of greyhounds at its breeding and training farm nearby.
The local tourism sector hopes the re-opening of the largest greyhound race track in Southeast Asia will give a boost to the industry, which has slowed down after the suspension.
